This album is a dedication to my father Vince Paparo. A wonderful human being, wordsmith, craftsman, workhorse and loving family man. The title track ‘Solace’ comes from our conversation at a Melbourne café after one of our frequent visits to the underground record shop. “Going to the hard places together” being the main theme of our discussion. Dad and I would often converse of the importance of love, loss, loneliness, death, sorrow and solitude and the critical nature of accepting these things to bring joy to life. I have entwined this way of thinking to some of the lyrical content of this record. As Townes Van Zandt writes in the lyrics of his incredibly beautiful and haunting song ‘Nothin’’, “Sorrow and solitude, these are the precious things, and the only words that are worth rememberin.’”

I would like to thank all the people who helped make this record possible.

To my wife Alana, your continued love and support is wonderful, inspiring and gives me renewed breath to draw upon. I love you profoundly.

To my family, Mum, Dad (Your beautiful memories live in our hearts and souls.), Josh, Ben, Gabby, Sarah, Grandparents, Aunties, Uncles, Cousins, Nieces, Nephew and In-laws, thank you for your constant sustentation, generosity and kindness. Much love always.
